2 Sisters Food Group reaches agreement to acquire Brookes Avana
Boparan Holdings, the holding company for 2 Sisters Food Group, today announces it has agreed to acquire the Brookes Avana business from Premier Foods for a cash sum of £30 million.
Brookes Avana is a supplier of high quality chilled convenience products, including Ready Meals, Accompaniments, Chilled Pizza and Pies from facilities based at Rogerstone Park in South Wales and Leicester. Avana is one of the UK's leading suppliers of high quality bakery, cake and dessert products from three facilities based at Rogerstone.
The acquisition would provide a strong strategic fit and would further strengthen 2 Sisters Food Group's capabilities in the Chilled and Bakery markets, offering a growth platform and a more diversified range of food products for every eating occasion. Brookes Avana produces for all of the UK's major retailers.
For the year to 31 December 2010, the Brookes Avana business had a turnover of £203.6 million and made a trading loss of £(0.1) million. All historic pension liabilities will be retained by Premier Foods.
Ranjit Singh, Chief Executive of 2 Sisters Food Group, said: "We are delighted to reach agreement on the acquisition of Brookes Avana. Chilled
The Chilled division produces a range of products including puddings, ready meals, soups, sandwiches, wraps, salads, chilled pizzas, sushi and prepared chicken products. Brands include the Matthew Walker Christmas puddings as well as a whole range of retailer own label products. There are a number of sites in the division all over the UK serving customers including the major retailers.
European Poultry
This division is made up of six sites in Holland and one in Poland. It produces fresh and frozen poultry and supplies to industry, manufacturers and retailers.
Fox's Biscuits
This division produces the range of Fox's Biscuits from its three sites for all major retailers. Retailer own label biscuit products are also produced in this division.
Frozen
The Frozen division produces frozen pizza, vegetables, pies and fish and includes the brands Goodfella's, Holland's Pies, McDougalls Pies, Green Isle and Donegal Catch in its portfolio. The division supplies to all major retailers with Holland's Pies also selling product via fish and chip shops and sports stadiums.
UK Poultry
The division consists of primary sites where chickens are delivered from nearby farms and cutting sites where the portioning, deboning and filleting of chicken takes place. The UK Poultry division supplies to a range of retailers as well as foodservice businesses and food manufacturers. It predominantly produces private label products however there are some brands including Buxted and Devonshire Red.
Each site is unique, with the equipment and specialist staff to support our high standards for animal welfare and production. All our sites are regularly, independently audited in full accordance with UK and European legislation.

Brookes Avana
The acquisition of Brookes Avana was completed on December 30th 2011. Brookes Avana has three locations at Leicester and Rogerstone Park in south wales making ready meals, accompaniments, chilled pizza, pies, cake, desserts and puddings.
2 Sisters Food Group employs around 18,000 people worldwide and has 42 manufacturing sites strategically placed across the UK and Ireland and Europe.
