Hundreds of jobs at risk at Headland Foods

Ready meals maker Headland Foods has entered into a 90-day consultation period with staff at its plant in Castle Park, Flint, North Wales.

Headland Foods also has a factory in Grimsby

The HR manager at the firm told FoodManufacture.co.uk this morning: "All I can say is that we have entered into a consultation period with staff at this site."

She declined to comment on local press reports that the site was earmarked for closure with some production transferring to the firm's more modern manufacturing plant in Grimsby (pictured).

No one else at the Flint site, which employs about 320 people making frozen own-label ready meals for the supermarkets, was available for comment.

The company - part of the private equity-backed Prize Food Group, which also declined to comment - made almost a quarter of its workforce at Flint redundant in early 2009.

Testimonials

Throughout the selection process, Tom's all round expertise and client knowledge were reassuring factors in my decision to accept the job. The level of attention and more so, patience, was greatly appreciated.
