Park Gate Foods has told Food Manufacture that it is in talks with staff about potential redundancies at its Euro Shellfish plant in Portavogie, Northern Ireland.
But managers would not comment on reports that the entire factory is set to close with the loss of 30 jobs, when the business - which has operated on the site for 25 years - is wound down.
Michael Beckett, a member of the management team, said: "We have no comment at this stage. We're in the very early stages of negotiating with staff." He added that the picture would become clearer in the coming 10 days.
Euro Shellfish produces scampi and other breaded fish at the County Down site, which it sells to the wholesale and foodservice sectors.

Tom has many innovative idea's and has proven to be a great business acquaintance to bounce idea's off and to network with. I look forward to dealing with Tom and Citizen again in the future."
